Turning night crews into a connected operation.

The challenge

Road-striping crews work in an unusually difficult technology environment.

Crews are dispatched into the field at night, and they move between job locations rather than working from a permanent office. The people performing the work and the people running the administrative operation are never in the same place.

That creates one fundamental problem: how do you keep visibility and accountability over work happening in the field when the field itself is constantly moving?

The objective was never to hand employees another piece of software. It was to build a practical connection between field operations and management.

The system

Built around how the work already happens.

IronDome developed ForemanTek, a field-operations platform designed around the way mobile crews actually work.

Rather than expecting night crews to operate like office employees, the system carries the operational workflow into the field. Dedicated tablets put the operational interface in the crew’s hands, and cellular connectivity extends the system beyond the office network — so it is available where the work is, not only where the desks are.

The result

A connected operation.

ForemanTek turned a disconnected field workflow into a connected operational system.

Instead of the technology stopping at the office door, the technology environment extends directly into field operations.

We didn’t install technology around the operation. We built technology around how the operation actually works.

02 / MANAGED IT

Managed IT · Healthcare · Infrastructure

From inherited systems to a managed technology environment.

Client
National P.E.T. Scan Dade LLC
Industry
Diagnostic imaging / healthcare
Location
Miami-Dade County, Florida
Engagement
Managed IT, infrastructure transition and modernization

The challenge

Taking responsibility for an established healthcare technology environment is very different from building a new network from scratch.

National PET Scan already depended on a combination of email, workstations, remote-access tools, imaging infrastructure, business applications and existing vendor relationships. The immediate priority was not to replace everything.

It was to understand what was already there, establish control over the systems required to operate the business, reduce uncertainty, and create a path for improvement without unnecessarily disrupting clinical operations.

The transition therefore began with a simple principle.

Gain visibility first. Improve second.

Establishing control

Bringing the environment under one management model.

Identifying the systems, services and dependencies required for day-to-day operations, then progressively bringing administrative control, documentation and support responsibility into one place.

Areas of transition
Email & domain Reviewing and migrating control of the organization’s email and domain-related services
Workstations Evaluating the existing computer environment, including Windows 11 compatibility and the path forward for systems that could not simply be upgraded
Remote access Reviewing the remote-access tools already present, and working toward a more deliberate, supportable remote-management approach
Imaging Reviewing DICOM-related dependencies and developing a disaster-recovery approach appropriate to an imaging operation
Business systems Identifying opportunities to improve the supporting administrative environment, including CRM and other operational tools
Not merely inheriting passwords and accounts

One environment

A diagnostic imaging operation depends on more than computers.

A change to one layer can affect another.

That is why the transition was approached as an environment rather than as a collection of isolated support tickets. Identity affects email. The network affects imaging. Imaging affects what recovery has to protect.

The transition

Modernization cannot become its own source of disruption.

For an active healthcare business, a wholesale replacement is the wrong instrument. The environment is being worked through in stages instead.

  1. 01

    Discover

Identify existing systems, accounts, dependencies, vendors and operational risks.

  2. 02

    Take control

Bring essential administrative access and technology responsibilities into a controlled support structure.

  3. 03

    Document

Create a clearer technical record of the environment and the relationships between systems.

  4. 04

    Stabilize

Address immediate compatibility, access and support concerns.

  5. 05

    Improve

Develop the next infrastructure, recovery and operational improvements based on what the environment actually needs.

The result so far

Control and visibility.

Technology that previously sat across separate systems, providers and administrative responsibilities is being brought into a more coherent management structure.

That creates the foundation for the next phase: making informed infrastructure decisions based on what the clinic actually requires, rather than replacing technology simply because it is old.

  4. Documentation
  5. Stabilization
  6. Modernization

The work continues

This is not presented as a finished transformation. IronDome is continuing to work with National PET Scan to strengthen and modernize the environment — infrastructure modernization, workstation lifecycle planning, remote-management rationalization, resilience and disaster-recovery planning around imaging workflows, and improvements to the business systems supporting the operation.

Before you can improve an environment, you have to understand it and take responsibility for it.
